An early to mid 20th century “Cat-Shaped” wooding hanging match box in original paint. The front of the box is a cat’s head and the hanging post is its tail. Wonderfully creative and folksy! 10 ½” high, 4 ¾” across at the ears and 3” deep. Nailed construction (tiny, round nails), and soiled surface that gives it a wonderfully warm patina. The box is in very good condition: there is a thin split down (about 2”) through the “hanging hole” but it does not effect the ability to hang the box on the wall, and some bruised paint on the cat’s face. A couple of the corners are slightly “bumped” but nothing serious. Nice dry, original surface!
