Description
Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989), "Le telephone (Telephone) from the artist's series of twelve works, "Hommage a Leonardo da Vinci (Great Inventions)"-circa 1966, engraving and etching with pochoir color on Arches paper with watermark, pencil signed lower right, noted from a limited edition of 450 lower left with "160/450". Work depicting a sawn tree with scattered leaves in green, grass at base of trunk with large pink prawn resting on top, figure in profile at lower right with gilt serpentine line stemming from mouth and running through shrimp or prawns, mechanism in gilt at lower center in a Surrealist landscape. Unframed. Sheet size approximately 22.3" x 29.9". Provenance: Acquired from Van Heusen-Charles Ltd, New York in by collector in New York thence by descent ot the present owner in Atlanta, Georiga. Note: Copy of invoice from Van Heusen-Charles Ltd. Fine Arts, 48 Howard Street, Albany, New York for purchase of entire series available upon request. Reference: Albert Field, "The Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dali" as 75-8 on pages 106 and 107.
