18 pieces of coin silver flatware including pieces of Kentucky, Midwestern and Agricultural interest. Includes 1 teaspoon with handle having raised Sheaf of Wheat decoration marked H.F. & H. Premium, monogrammed SE and stamped en verso in rectangle BRADBURY with additional date mark of 1826 (possibly Theophilus Bradbury, working Newburyport, Massachusetts circa 1820s), together with 16 various pieces having Fiddle handles: 1 tablespoon marked SMITH & GRANT in banner for Richard Ewing Smith and William Grant, working Louisville, 1827-1831; 1 dessert spoon marked R. FRAZIER JR. in rectangle with psuedohallmarks for Robert Frazier Jr., working Lexington, 1838-1851; 1 tablespoon marked COOK & SIMPSON in rectangle with additional date mark of 1855, attrib. Booneville, Missouri; 1 teaspoon with monogram SH and incuse mark ST. LOUIS; 1 tablespoon with monogram LEE marked B. Wilder in rectangle, attributed to Abbott Pierson Wilder, working Eau Claire, Wisconsin circa 1866; 1 teaspoon monogammed McCune with incuse mark AYRES & SONS attributed to Keokuk, Iowa; 1 teaspoon monogrammed "Sarah H. Bill" marked RW ROATH PURE COIN, attributed to Roswell Walstein Roath, working 1826-1871 in Norwich, CT, New York City, Chicago, and Denver; 1 knife marked Gelston with pseudohallmarks (likely New York or Boston, mid 19th c.); 1 gravy ladle marked J. DRAPER in rectangle (Joseph Draper, working Wilmington Delaware 1816-1832, Cincinnati Ohio 1832-d. 1864) with monogram NP, and 3 tablespoons and 5 teaspoons, all also marked J. DRAPER in rectangle with NP monograms. Combined weighable silver: 16.77 oz troy. Provenance: The estate of Dr. Benjamin H. Caldwell, Nashville, TN. Condition
Smith & Grant tablespoon has worn monogram and worn tip. Frazier spoon has bent handle, wear, pitting and dents to bowl. Cook and Simpson spoon has possible monogram removal, Roath spoon has worn tip. Otherwise all items in excellent condition.
