Description
American, late 19th century. A group of two cast iron mechanical banks, including:
one J. & E. Stevens "Hall's Excelsior" bank, marked with title on front and PAT. DEC 21, 1860 on roof. Pull doorknob to pop up monkey from roof; place coin in tray and release knob to deposit; ht. 5, wd. 4, dp. 3.5 in.;
and one Judd mosque, unmarked, and with some green wash. Place coin on figure's tray and turn knob on side to rotate figure and deposit coin; ht. 6.5, wd. 6, dp. 6 in.
Condition
"Hall's Excelsior": paint loss, could use a cleaning.
Mosque: missing top figure and two corners cracked off, as well as bottom corner from one back wall. Could use a cleaning.
