Description
Central Asia, Tibet, ca. late 19th to early 20th centuries CE. A remarkable belt comprised of five substantial silver-plated iron plaques attached to a wide leather strip - three very large panels and two smaller ones that are linked to a two-part clasp shaped like a yoke - all meticulously decorated with intricately incised geometric designs that resemble labyrinths. Two openwork silver-plated iron danglers further embellish opposite sides of the belt. Size: 38" L x 2.5" W (96.5 cm x 6.4 cm); 5" W (12.7 cm) including complete dangler; larger plaques measure 7.5" L x 2.5" W (19 cm x 6.4 cm)
