**First Time At Auction**
Ancient Egypt, Second Intermediate Period, 15th to 17th Dynasty, ca. 1674 to 1549 BCE (smaller); New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty, ca. 1292 to 1189 BCE (larger). A pair of faience glazed, pale blue steatite scarab amulets. The smaller one is from the Hyksos period and is incised with a figure of an ibex on its base. This was made to be a protective amulet for the living. The other has base glyphs showing the pharaoh, Men, and Ra, and was made to be a protective amulet. Size of larger one: 0.7" W (1.8 cm)
Provenance: ex Hank Johnson collection, Denver, Colorado, USA; ex HD-Enterprise, Denver, Colorado, USA, acquired from the estate of Philip Mitry, Cairo, Egypt, collected in the 1950s
