Description
A 1930's silver five bar toast rack, of plain arched form with central ring handle, hallmarked Collingwood & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1936, height measuring 4 3/8 inches (11 cm). Together with an Edwardian silver mustard pot of circular pierced form, the hinged cover opening to reveal a blue glass liner, hallmarked William Hutton & Sons Ltd., Birmingham 1906, a cased set of six 1920's coffee spoons, a pair of white metal Eastern style open salts and two Edwardian silver condiment spoons. Gross weight exclusive of liner 7.3 ozt (230 grams).
Condition
In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The centre bar of the toast rack is dented beneath the ring handle join and appears squashed in and out of line with the others. The hinged cover of the mustard pot does not shut fully and is a bit loose with some sideways movement, the pierced body has a minor dent to one side. Minor scuffs and wear to the outside of the case for the spoons, the fitted interior lining comes out slightly. The pair of open salts appear unmarked, one has significant compression from one of the feet, another foot has sideways movement, all the fixture pins of the feet are visible to the interiors. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible.
