Item Details
Description
A pair of mid-Victorian silver topped casters, each of cut-glass tapered form, the removable pierced silver lid with ball finial, hallmarked London 1862, maker's mark W S, height measuring 6 1/2 inches (16.3 cm). Together with a late Victorian silver topped vanity jar, of oval cut-glass form with a plain slightly domed silver lid, hallmarked London 1895, maker's mark partly obscured possibly Charles Henry Dumenil. (2).
Condition
In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The silver lids on the casters do not sit flush with the neck of glass, one is slightly compressed and appears flatter, heavier chips and nibbles around the base of the glass bodies, minor nibbles to the cut-glass decoration. The silver lid on the vanity jar has noticeable bumps and dents, further marked 'Mappin & Webb London' beneath. Hallmarks slightly rubbed and worn but majority legible.
