Description
AN AMERICAN FEDERAL HEPPLEWHITE STYLE MAHOGANY BOWFRONT CHEST, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY NEW ENGLAND, the highly figured, gently bowed front, rectangular top, over four graduating drawers fronted by bead carving, raised on splayed legs, and joined by a retrained swag form, serpentine skirt. Height: 37 3/4" Width: 38 7/8" Depth: 19 3/8" NOTE: Secondary woods: oak and maple.
Condition
Scratches and dents on top and drawer fronts. Some interior repairs, and one interior drawer back has a large crack. Veneer losses occasionally throughout. The sides have darkened stains and filled holes. Abrasive wear at feet. Overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
