Description
HAIR, Alfred (American, 1941-1970): Florida Highwaymen. Ocean Scene. Fire sky. signed. Good condition. Measures 24 inches high x 36 inches wide + 2 7/8 inch frame. The only member of the Highwaymen to take formal art lessons from A.E. “Beanie†Backus, Alfred Hair was the man responsible for making the Highwaymen a real movement. It was he who developed the techniques of mass production, and taught this to others. His charisma and driving force was what turned this into a large group, and was sorely missed after his murder in 1970. Creator of the “Fast Grass†technique and super fast painting, he left his mark on American painting forever. Shipping third
