Pre-Columbian, Caribbean / Florida, Taino people, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. Two petite Taino figural amulets, one carved from a white stone with dark inclusions, and the other from a light orange stone. Both figures are crouching, with flat bases, short arms, and blocky heads, each with lateral biconically-drilled suspension holes through their necks; the white amulet is biconically-drilled vertically as well. Each amulet is skillfully-carved and visually appealing, and both are wonderful examples of Taino stone craftsmanship! Size: 1.375" H (3.5 cm).
Provenance: ex-collection of the late Peter Arnovick, San Francisco, California, USA
