Pre-Columbian, Colombia to Ecuador (Carchi), Narino Highlands, ca. 1250 CE. A lovely bowl with deep walls on an concave ring base, the interior adorned via negative resist with a pair of anthropomorphic figures, each one supporting a plank on his shoulders with a bird perched atop, as well as stylized geometric motifs. The exterior is also decorated with equidistantly placed trios of striations. This beautiful iconographic and decorative program is rendered in an attractive color palette of red and cream on a chocolate brown ground. Size: 8.5" W x 3.625" H (21.6 cm x 9.2 cm)
