126. VERY RARE. SIZE 1, FRENCH BISQUE PREMIERE BEBE BY EMILE JUMEAU. Marks: 1. 10 1/2". Bisque Socket head with full cheeks, almond-shaped large brown paperweight eyes, eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, closed mouth with modeled white space between shaded pale pink lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, Jumeau composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, stamped Jumeau Medaille D’Or Paris, antique bonnet. Commentary: Earliest period bebe, circa 1878, has endearing expression, fine quality bisque and facial decoration, especially large eyes, good original body with original finish.
