Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, post-Classic period, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A curiously-shaped bowl in the form of a kidney, with its interior burnished to a grey-brown, its exterior decorated with a series of geometric motifs in bright red. Probably made for domestic use or holding offerings in the grave. Size: 7" W x 3" H (17.8 cm x 7.6 cm)
