Condition
Oil on canvas laid down on wood panel. Surface abrasions along edges from contact with frame. Paint
loss lower right corner. Craquelure pattern visible. Toning of varnish layer. Signs of inpainting along/by
the edges; signs of inpainting in upper third (sky); some of inpainting along craquelure pattern; some of
the dark colors fluoresce under UV light but appear to be hand of the artist. Small surface marks. Period
gilt frame with surface marks, nicks and abrasions. "William A. Scott, 36 Barrack Street, Dundee" frame
label en verso. Brass "Jules Dupre, 1811-1889" artist plaque on frame.
