Description
A nice Roman glass juglet, Eastern Mediterranean, c. 3rd Century AD, in nearly colorless glass, with nearly spherical body possessing circular indentations around the outside, pontil mark on bottom almost polished smooth. The neck is tubular with trefoil pouring spout and trailed-on handle in a pale blue-green glass which is folded below the rim and with semi-circular flanged above body. H: 3 3/4 in (9.5 cm). An attractive example with internal deposits and a light metallic iridescence. Cf. Yale p. 76, no. 199 for a similar example lacking ridge on base of handle. Ex collection of Dr. Michael A Telson.
