Description
Meiji period (1868 - 1912) or Taisho period (1912 - 1926), a stunning hand painted footed Kutani bowl by the master artist Taniguchi depicting Kinko, an artist who painted fish but refused to eat them, he was by the Fish King to visit his submarine palace, this bowl shows the iconic image of him riding a carp with long robes and beard, and holding a fan, around the central subject and on the reverse of the bowl the background is finely decorated in gilt and colors with flora and geometric designs.
