Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful, free-blown glass cup with a pale-green coloration. The base of the vessel has a short, circular foot and a rough pontil in the center, with a near right-angle curve delineating the bottom from the walls. Dozens of hairline horizontal striations adorn the exterior sides, and a flared, rolled rim leads inwards to a shallow interior cavity. Thick sections of brilliant rainbow-hued iridescence display amethyst, emerald, sapphire, and citrine hues, all nicely complementary to the cup's light-sage hue. Size: 3" W x 1.5" H (7.6 cm x 3.8 cm).
