Description
In a Doris Langley Moore Letter: “All were bought by me from a niece of Mrs. Toogood, one of the Queen’s dressers and quite beyond questionâ€. The clothing items are of the Queen’s size during her elder years and conform to her taste. All having tapering crown and wide brim turned up at the wired edge. Two with edge and underbrim covered with ruched silk and silk lining: One bone straw with cream gauze, black silk ties; one black horsehair with ruched chiffon, label "Robert Heath, 25 St. George's Place, Hyde Park Corner", 11 x 12 x 3 1/2. (Trim removed from both hats, wire brim edge partially exposed) fair. One black felt with brim covered in pleated velvet, folded silk ribbon band with bow and knotted silk tassels at back, decorated with black and white feathers, silk drawstring lining, includes custom mount, DLM tag, 12 x 16 1/2 x 5, excellent.
