Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Moche I, ca. 200 CE. Incredibly rare matched pottery keros in the form of human hands and lower arms. Each kero is adorned with an ornate bracelet and detailed fingernails with added white pigments. The Moche culture was quite barbaric by some modern standards and captives were systematically dismembered starting with the hands, their skin flayed and their blood was then imbibed from keros such as this. We just don't have parties like this today! Size: 8-3/4"H.
