Item Details

Description

Rare incised floral stoneware jar similar to the works of Thomas Commeraw produced at Coerlears Hook, Manhattan, NY, probably from his early period, late 18th century. The unsigned ovoid jar, with open work handles and brushed blue decorations on the base of each, also has an incised freehand cobalt blue flower on both the front and back sides and has a grouping of tooled concentric lines under the collar and above the base. Small rim chips are present as well as some staining - one firing imperfection noticeable on one side, but overall very good condition. 9.75"H.
