Description
1532 1ed Italian Renaissance Luigi Alamanni Poetry Mythology Narcissus Sonnet Latin
Luigi Alamanni was a 16th-century Italian poet, and, to some, considered the greatest Italian poet for centuries based purely on the number of edition of his complete works. Much of his popularity was attributed to him being the first Italian poet to use blank verse in Italian poetry. This 1532 edition of his poetry is exceedingly rare and features Latin translations of Alamanni’s poetic works.
This first edition features a second tome that was printed a year later; however this tome is a standalone collection. It features 30 elegies, 14 eclogues, 178 sonnets, 5 ballades, 12 satires, psalms in rhyme, and 2 individual songs including the Fable of Narcissus and Fable of Atlas.
