South America, Argentina or Chile, Mapuche culture, ca. 1200 to 1800 CE. A hand-carved stone pipe intended for shamanic use. It has a rectangular body with a square receptacle, a narrow tubular mouthpiece, and an upward-angled triangular finger rest. The stone displays mottled areas of light and dark-brown coloring. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 5.25" L x 1" H (13.3 cm x 2.5 cm); 2.25" H (5.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age and use, small nicks to mouthpiece, receptacle, and finger rest, with some discoloration, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits throughout. Old inventory label on bottom.
