"Grant's Petersburg Progress." Vol I, No. 1, Petersburg, Vir(g)inia, April 3, 1865. "Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty (and ten cents a copy for our paper)". Mon, April 3, 1865. Petersburg Ours! We are here !! Hallelujah: Holiday for the Army. Great Rejoicing!". Single sheet, printed on one side, with some pretty hilarious entries, including the final "Auction Sales: To be sold very cheap (if not badly sold already), all that singularly, ineligible and worthless property known as THE SOUTHERN CONFEDERACY. For particulars apply to Jefferson Davis Richmond, Va. N.B. Liberal terms to Maximillian, Louis Napoleon, or Victoria". 19" x 11 3/4" sheet, tipped to board, matted behind UV glass in gold box frame, OS: 24" x 16 1/2". Folded, some minor foxing, edge chips, bleed-through from inked inscription "This from Elmer, Keep this" on reverse.
