Description
**First Time At Auction**
Greece, probably Tanagra, Boeotia, Hellenistic period, ca. late 4th to 3rd century BCE. A fine, mold-made terracotta head of a woman. She exhibits almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, thin lips drawn into a slight smile, and an elaborately-plaited coiffure drawn into a bun in the back. She dons a pair of stylized grape bunches above her smooth brow, an aesthetic element common among female dancers at the festival of Dionysus, and a pair of earrings peek through the bottom of her bangs. A fabulous face evocative of ancient beauty! Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 2" H (5.1 cm); 3.625" H (9.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Head is a fragment of a larger figure. Age-commensurate surface wear, fading to some facial details, and minor nicks to neck and hair, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits throughout.
