Standard glaze ewer decorated with a young girl and a gnome in a tree, the work of Kataro Shirayamadani in 1892 and then sent to Gorham where the detailed silver overlay was applied. Marks include the Rookwood logo, which indicates the date, shape 608, an impressed W for White clay and the artist's incised monogram. The silver is marked R-252. There is fine overall crazing, some of which is dark, and there has been a professional repair at the neck. Height is 11 inches.
