The Pipesmoke Carry by Bert Leston Taylor. Pub. 1912 by The Reilly and Britton Company (first edition). A relic from another era, when smoking tobacco was a simple part of life. What’s special about this little book are the nearly two dozen full-page b/w drawings done in pure Arts & Crafts style. Published at the height of the American Arts and Crafts movement this book is a call-back to the simple purity of life eschewed by Elbert Hubbard, Gustav Stickley and other men who epitomized this era. Dark green laid card stock cover with dark green and gilt design/titling. Cracked 1.5” at lower joint; rear joint cracked but both joints holding. Missing ¼” to ½” of three tips. Foot of spine chipped; head of spine just barely chipped. Couple of imperfections at board edges. Generally clean and nice appearing though. Interior excellent. 4.25 x 7.125. Unpaginated (approx. 90 pp.)
