JAMES SHARPLES (BRITISH / AMERICAN, 1751-1811) PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN, pastel on paper, silver-haired figure in profile against a blue background, no signature located. Housed under glass in a period frame. Discovered in Virginia. Late 18th century. 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" sight, 11 1/2" x 9 3/4" OA.
Good visual condition with area of discoloration at right edge. Some rubbing and small losses at edges. Frame with wear and losses.
Provenance: From a Virginia private collector.
