Item Details
Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lengthy Roman cast-iron cooking spatula with a slender body, a pointed handle terminal, a slightly-expanded shoulder, and a discoid face. The spatula face is just barely curved, allowing the food to be briefly scooped up and maneuvered towards a different area of the pan or pot. Romans favored pottery cooking vessels over those made of metals due to their low cost and efficient functionality, though iron and bronze were the preferred materials for crafting cooking utensils. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 5.125" W x 17.25" H (13 cm x 43.8 cm); 18" H (45.7 cm) on included custom stand.
