Description
1843 Galileo Copernicus Phenomena of Solar System Nichol Astronomy Cosmogony
John Pringle Nichol was a 19th-century Scottish astronomer who helped make astronomy a popular study for the English public. ‘Phenomena of the Solar System’ was the result of much of Nichol’s study on the formation of the solar system, particularly nebular hypothesis. Nichol describes the motion of planets and heavenly bodies, as well as the physical make up of those bodies. Nichols qualified his research and discoveries in this book by providing notes from Kepler’s Third Law and Bode’s Law of Distances, as well as many studies of Galileo and Copernicus
This book features impressive illustrations showing the moon, stars, planets, and solar system, many of which are folding and quite detailed.
This 1843 edition is the first American edition, a reissue of Nichols original Scottish edition.
