ERLANGER COTTON BOND CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA: The American Civil War Cut England and France off from Southern Cotton. Cotton Bonds were issued to Finance the War for the South and Offered an Exchange rate of CSA$5=1 PD Sterling=25 FF=40Lbs of Cotton. US Navy was in the Way. Frederick Erlanger Infatuated wit the CSA's Ambassador's Daughter MATHIDE (Creole Beauty that she was) bought the French Share at 77% and tried to Sell it at 90%. Gettysburg got in the way of that. Most of the Bonds were destroyed in a 1960 Fire. This L1000/25000Franc/40,000 lbs.
