Description

Wonderful lot, nearly one full year of these magazines called The Art Journal: An International Gallery of Engravings, from D. Appleton & Co., Publishers. These magazines were devoted to artists around the world in all sorts of mediums from painting, sculpting, architecture and more. Each was to contain three steel plates and many wood illustrations along with great advertising. This lot contains most months, July, November and December are missing. Two issues are undated on the cover but are New Series, No. 11 and New Series, No. 12, likely these are November and December and also appear to have more artwork that printed word. These issues appear to be complete, however they all have come loose from their bindings and the corners and edges of each show signs of wear over the years, however all the contents are in nice condition.
