Description
U.S. MODEL 1840 HEAVY CAVALRY SABER, single-edge blade terminating in a spear-point, 3/4-length fuller, brass three-branch guard and pommel, later cord-wrapped grip. Mid 19th century. 35" L blade, 40 5/8" LOA.
Good as-found condition overall, blade with very slight bending near the tip, expected minor pitting and surface corrosion to blade, guard with significant bend to back, pommel slightly out of place, grip replaced as described.
