Description
New World, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A large and beautiful bowl, hand-carved from a wavy-grained acacia wood, with a rounded base, a slightly curved rim, and an integral handle. Two small brass panels stabilize a pair of pressure fissures on either side of the bowl, though this does not detract from the inherent beauty of the caramel-hued wood. Covered in a lustrous brown patina, this is a fabulous example from the Hawaiian Islands! Size: 13.5" L x 10.25" W x 4" H (34.3 cm x 26 cm x 10.2 cm).
