Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. early to mid 19th century CE. A cast bronze traveling icon depicting the Veneration of Mary. She stands centrally, surrounded by numerous kneeling and standing figures, with banners inscribed with Cyrillic over her head. This is a traveling icon, made in order to support traveling priests on missions, small enough and light enough to be carried on long journeys and used to teach and worship important moments in Orthodox Christianity. Size: 3.125" W x 5.25" H (7.9 cm x 13.3 cm)
