Description
New World, Mexico, Spanish Colonial inspired, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-carved and painted wooden nicho with a large open display area ideal for figures like santos and other religious artwork. The nicho features a stable base, a large display area, and carved, stylized borders, including a finial at the top front and crenellations along the top sides. The interior has a holder for displaying something that is nailed to a base on its floor. Currently painted a bright, cheerful blue, with new glass. Size: 8.5" L x 17.55" W x 24.05" H (21.6 cm x 44.6 cm x 61.1 cm)

Glass is new. Wear on painted surface, with evidence for at least one period of overpainting. One of the crenellations from the top is lost.
