Description
**Originally Listed At $250**
Ancient Greece, Tanagra, Boeotia, ca. 4th century BCE. A wonderful example of a mold-made pottery votive figure, this woman stands garbed in a traditional chiton (a robe or large wrap worn by Greek men and woman) with one arm at her hips and the other raised and holding the remnants of what used to be a hydria (or water jug). A worshipper of Demeter, the goddess of crops, harvest time, and agriculture, she displays a wide and flat base, long legs, a slightly-arched back, delicate facial features such as almond-shaped eyes and thin cheeks, and stylized hair flowing gracefully down her shoulders and back.
