Description
**Originally Listed At $300**

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche IV, ca. 600 to 800 CE. A large, flat-bottomed, and spherical terracotta stirrup-spouted vessel with stepped, linear, and spiralized fine-line motifs painted in a russet-hue atop a cream ground. Pieces like these were often used for holding sacred fermented liquids consumed during ceremonies or placed in graves as offerings. A wonderful example, impressive for its elegant form as well as its painted decorative program. Size: 10.375" H (26.4 cm).

Provenance: private Andrade collection, New York, New York, USA, acquired in the 1960s; ex-Knoedler & Company, New York, New York, USA
