Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $100**

Italy, Apulia/Daunian, ca. 300 BCE. Daunian society was a mixture of native Italians and Greeks who had settled in the area, and their pottery reflects this unique blend in its style. This miniature jug has a narrow strap handle rising from the body to the rim; the base of the jug is flat, and the body is apple-shaped, capped by a slightly narrowed neck and flared rim. Many Daunian vessels, like this one, are ornamented with bands of geometric decoration called listati. Size: 3.25" L x 2.6" W x 3" H (8.3 cm x 6.6 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: Ex- Collection of James Farmer, Maryland, collected from major galleries and auction houses between 1995 and 2005
