Description
A GROUP OF TWO ENAMEL DECORATED OPAL GLASS VESSELS, ENGLISH AND AMERICAN, CIRCA 1886-1900, comprising a light green opal glass perfume bottle of ovoid form, at the neck a crown of raised gilt enamel, the sides decorated with stylized Japanesque tree blossoms, mounted with a sterling silver ball form cap and threaded sleeve by Thomas Johnson II, London, 1886-1887, the bottle attributed to Thomas Webb & Sons, Stourbridge, England, circa 1885, stamped (leopard's head), (lion passant), (duty mark), "TJ," "L," height: 5", diameter: 3"; and a C.F. Monroe Co. gilt metal hinged polychrome enamel decorated opal glass dresser box in the "Nakara" pattern, Meriden, of squared pillow form in tan with white scrolled dot decorated ribbons framing hand embellished transfer printed violet decoration, with beaded gilt metal hinged fan clasped collars to the top and bottom, Meriden, Connecticut, circa 1900, marked on the bottom "C.F.M. CO., NAKARA," height: 4 1/4", diameter: 5 1/2".
Condition
Both pieces in overall good condition, with no evidence of chips, nicks, or cracks to the glass; minor surface rubbing, scratching, and wear commensurate with age and use.
