Details: This lot is comprised of approximately 26 issues of “Harper’s Weekly, A Journal of Civilization†from 1900. Some issues have two-color cover pages. Issues from this decade often included artwork by such artists as R.M. Reay and William Allen Rogers.
Issues sizes are approx. 16" x 11.25".
“Harper's Weekly, A Journal of Civilization" was an American political magazine based in New York City. Published by Harper & Brothers from 1857 until 1916, it featured foreign and domestic news, fiction, essays on many subjects, and humor, alongside illustrations. It carried extensive coverage of the American Civil War, including many illustrations of events from the war. During its most influential period, it was the forum of the political cartoonist Thomas Nast.
Condition / Notes: This collection of antique newspapers shows very well with some indications of age/wear, including age toning and chipping. It is unknown if each individual issue is complete or if there is a complete yearly set.
