William Akers, Maryland Double Fusee Shelf Clock. 6 in. painted metal dial with black Roman hour numerals, pierced brass hands and hinged brass door bezel with convex crystal; brass 8 day double fusee spring driven movement "No. 241" has a fancy engraved rear plate, quality turned posts, hour strike on a bell and brass pendulum with eagle engraved bob and lockdown hardware. In a laminated wood case with black lacquered finish, gilt eagle, wreath and filigree stenciling with glass aperture on the rear door. Very good overall condition, has minor cracking to the surface at the shoulders of the case; movement is running and striking. C.1843. Ref: The American Clock, by William H.
