Description
An Egyptian bronze figure of an ibis, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, hollow cast, the wings and tail with incised feather detail, the head with detailed eyes and beak; below are attachments for the legs on the underbody. The body has split with age allowing for a look inside the sculpture. H: 3 ½ in (8.8cm), L: 4 ¾ in (12cm). The body nicely patinated, the head with some cleaning. Ex Brooklyn, NY private collection; acquired at Tepper Galleries, NY in the late 1980's.
