ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE CERAMIC ANIMAL FIGURES, LOT OF TWO comprising a sitting gorilla gripping a tree on an oval base and a sitting squirrel with collar on a molded base. Both decorated in the round, with polychrome decoration. Second half 19th century. 4 1/4" HOA.
Gorilla mostly undamaged, with flake on head; squirrel with moderate crazing, glued repair, and some flakes to enamel. Gorilla with some glazed-over firing separations, as made.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, VA. All proceeds to benefit the Collections Acquisition Fund.
