Greece, Attica, Hellenistic period, ca. 2nd century BCE. A mold-made votive ceramic figure of a standing young man, nude aside from a flowing cape and crown, with flowing hair. Young men were the ideal of beauty in the ancient Greek world, and the depiction here emphasizes his muscular body. Votive figures were used as offerings in temples, placed into home altars, and often left in graves. Size: 2.85" W x 6.45" H (7.2 cm x 16.4 cm); 7.85" H (19.9 cm) on included custom stand.
