North America, modern-day Wyoming, Green River Formation, Lower Eocene period, ca. 50 million years ago. A trio of stone-cased fish fossils, including Knightis, Mioplosus Labrocoides, and Priscara. The morphology of all three specimens, most notably the upturned mouths, are typical of surface-feeding fish. Knightia, the smallest of the three, are typically found in the stomachs of larger fish like the Priscara. Two of the fish have bifurcated tails, one has a paddle-shaped tail, and all three have visible skeletal structures and fins. Set in stone backing. Size: 20" L x 13.8" W (50.8 cm x 35.1 cm); smallest fish: 3.75" L (9.5 cm); medium fish: 5.25" L (13.3 cm); largest fish: 5.5" L (14 cm); weight: 18 lbs.
