Arthur St. Clair Signs a Receipt for Expenses Incurred for Medical Care of Soldiers in the Revolution, Including One Woman "belonging to said company"
Autograph Document Signed in Text, "St. Clair," one page, 8" x 8.5", April 20, 1776, [Hackensack]. In full, "April 20th 1776 / Received of Coll. St Clair Payment of the within Account." Countersigned, "James Van Buren." On the verso, a manuscript statement of medical services and charges in pounds for each soldier, including a woman "belonging to said company." Partial separation along folds and one small hole at fold intersections not affecting legibility. Near fine condition.
The manuscript medical statement reads, "One private soldier in Capt. Briensbens Company / Henry O'Neil To medicines and tendance £0.17.0 / April 7 Nathan Alixander To Medicines and Tendance £0.11.0 / Nathaniel Dickey to medicines and tendance £0.7.0 / Hugh McCurdle private soldiers in Capt. Hulings Company to Medicines £0.3.0 / Mary Faire one of the woman belonging to the said Company to medicines and tendance L0.7.6 / £2.5.6 " From the Thomas MacDonald Revolutionary War collection.
