Book Details: This very rare medical title is bound in red cloth with gilt lettering and a photographic illustration to the front board. A feature of this volume is a set of labeled chromolithograph "mannekins" detailing the parts of the human body, including a front view of the human body, the muscular system, front view of the skeleton, nervous system, viscera, etc.

From the Preface: "The purpose of this little book is to place before the Public the principles of nursing in a condensed form for ready reference. In nursing, caring for and cooking for the sick and convalescing, to show at a glance the most common diseases, their causes and their symptoms. Particular stress has been laid upon emergencies and what to do when they arrive. Equal stress has been placed upon infectious and contagious diseases, upon disinfectants and their uses towards preventing the spread of the same...Equal emphasis has been laid upon the family medicine chest, which if kept in some convenient place and an intelligent use made as directed, of the many useful remedies contained therein, will save many a call from the family physician, alleviate much suffering while waiting for him, and perhaps save a life."
Condition / Notes: This antique volume shows well with mild indications of age and wear, including shelfwear and rubbing. The binding and text block are sound, however the front hinge is cracked. Text and illustrations are clear and legible through mild age toning and light moisture marks. The chromilithograph "mannikins" retain their bright coloration.
