Author: Gabriel de l'Aubespine - Gabriel de L'Aubespine was a French prelate of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Bishop of Orléans from 1604 to 1630, he was made a knight in the Order of the Holy Spirit during the reign of Louis XIII on 31 December 1619. A learned man, he authored the liturgical work Veteribus Ecclesia Ritibus, printed in Paris, in 1623.

Book Details: This antique French religious volume is bound in vellum with raised spine bands and speckled text block edges. The title translates loosely as "The Old Documents of the Church on the Administration of the Eucharist". Engraved decorative capitals and in-text ornamentation enhance the text.
Condition / Notes: This volume shows very well with some typical indications of age and wear including shelfwear and discoloration to the vellum. The binding and text block are firm. Text is clear and crisp through mild age toning/foxing. There is a library stamp to the title page, and residue from a small label on the spine.
