Author: Henry Keppel - Admiral of the Fleet Sir Henry Keppel GCB, OM was a Royal Navy officer. His first command was largely spent off the coast of Spain, which was then in the midst of the First Carlist War. As commanding officer of the corvette HMS Dido on the East Indies and China Station he was deployed in operations during the First Opium War and in operations against Borneo pirates.

Book Details: This antique stated third edition volume is bound in green cloth-covered boards featuring stamped designs on the boards and spine, as well as gilt lettering. This work is a detailed account of the Royal Navy light cruiser, H.M.S. Dido, on the expedition to Borneo as an attempt to open it to foreign trade. The work provides an overview of Borneo and the Sea Dyakes and is adorned with three folding maps as well as illustrated plates throughout. This is volume 2 of a two-volume set.
Condition / Notes: This antique volume displays some indications of age and wear including shelfwear and rubbing. The spine is cracked at the top with edgewear. The text block is cracked, however the binding remains secure with no loose pages. Text and maps show nicely with mild age toning. This volume displays some ex-library treatments, including stamps and handwritten call numbers.
